About Daat Kali Temple

Daat Kali Temple is a revered Hindu temple located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. It is one of the oldest and most prominent temples in the region dedicated to Goddess Kali, which is considered a manifestation of the divine feminine energy in Hinduism.

The temple's distinct architectural style is constructed using locally sourced stone and wood. It has a main shrine dedicated to Goddess Kali, which houses a black stone idol of the goddess. It is in a tranquil environment, surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful mountains.

Hindus accord the Daat Kali Temple unwavering religious value; even today, those who purchase a new automobile bring it to the temple to seek the devi's blessings. A priest performs a special pooja, during which a black thread is attached to the car, and coconuts are offered. The Vahan Durghatna Yantra is an instrument that is affixed to the car to shield it from accidents, the evil eye, and other perils.

#Trivia: The word "Daat" means "teeth" in Hindi, and the temple is named after the goddess's fierce form with protruding teeth.

In his dream, Kali Ma gave him an idol of herself and instructed him to build a temple there. The engineer then gave Mehnat Sukhbir Gusain the idol to build the temple, which he named the Daat Kali temple.
